The simplest route from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station
For most first-time visitors, AREX is the clearest rail connection between Incheon International Airport and Seoul Station. The airport’s transportation centers are on Basement 1 at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. After immigration and customs, follow the blue Airport Railroad signs and check the station board before buying a ticket.
Choose the Express Train when you want reserved seating and a non-stop trip. Choose the All-stop Train when you prefer a lower fare or need one of its intermediate stations. Departure intervals, fares, and service details can change, so confirm them on the official AREX website before travel.
Express or All-stop: which should you choose?
Step 1: find the airport transportation center
At both terminals, the transportation center is on B1. Incheon International Airport provides terminal maps and an official Airport Railroad Guide. Use it if you are unsure whether you landed at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.
Step 2: decide whether you need a T-money card
A T-money card is useful for repeated subway and bus travel in Korea, but you do not need to buy one simply because you are taking the AREX Express. Ask the station or convenience-store staff about the current purchase and recharge options. Keep some Korean won available because payment rules can differ by product and location.
Step 3: board AREX and allow time for Seoul Station
Follow the signs to the correct platform and keep your ticket or payment method ready at the gates. When you arrive at Seoul Station, allow additional time for exits, subway transfers, luggage, and taxis. If you are transferring to KTX, follow the KTX signs rather than leaving the station first.
If you arrive late or have heavy luggage
- Late arrival: Check the final AREX departure before leaving the arrivals hall. If rail is no longer practical, compare a current airport limousine bus or licensed taxi option.
- Large luggage: Check the airport’s current storage or delivery services and operating hours in advance.
- Connecting flight or train: Leave extra time for immigration, baggage, walking, and station transfers.
- Schedules: Do not rely on an old “last train” time without checking the official schedule on your travel date.
